"don't get me wrong. i'm not saying it has to be a masterpiese or anything. i already have all the songs, but there's something that still missing. it's very difficult for me to explain. i'ii know it when it's there and i won't release the album until i've got it"

M.Nasir At A Glance M.Nasir's Compilation . "Terbaik M.Nasir" Composer M.Nasir needs no introduction to Malaysians, having been a significant contributor in recent times to the growth and development of Malaysian contemporary music. His presence in the local music industry has benefitted a great number of local singers, injecting more bite and quality in the songs and albums he has produced for them. Brimming with vibrant and original ideas and possessed of deep insight and vision, this talented composer has through his mesmerising musical works elevated awareness of the roots of Malay music amongst the masses. In recognition of his vast contribution to the local music scene, BMG Music, his record label has released a compilation album featuring his best works. Aptly named "Terbaik M.Nasir", it is the first to be produced together with M.Nasir and is regarded as a retrospective of his musical career and contains 2 previously unreleased songs entitled "Kias Fansuri" and "Andalusia".

As Nasir sees it . . . On the timing of the album release: "In the current economic climate its prudent to release a compilation album. It nicely fills in the gap before the next studio album." On 'Kias Fansuri', one of the new songs: "Kias Fansuri is in reference to the Malay Sufi, Hamzah Fansuri, known for his great intellect and mystical poetry thus the song alludes to Fansuri's visionary insight." On 'Andalusia', the other new song : "Andalusia pays tribute to ancient Spain, a centre of knowledge and excellence in the arts, science and technology during the classical era of Islamic civilisation." On his musical philosophy : "Music has to have its soul and its own original form. The soul must be strong and the form must be clear. Its form must be able to be heard and able to highlight its true, original self ... the form must be expressed as required by the soul or spirit."
